They wanted to lock down the bay area. A ton of talent comes from this area and the 1 thing you have that almost no other school has is the promise to play close to home. stop wasting time recruiting south carolina, georgia, north carolina ,etc. Look at our roster. it's loaded with kids from these areas. Great hunting grounds for Clemson. Not so much for USF. Lock up the bay area. I feel like we say this far too often...I was chatting with a Dad of an Iowa State player when Charlie was the coach that went to hs locally and he never got a call...I get the same feeling with CJS... Next coach we hire refuse to let him get on a plane to recruit.

I'm not a CJS apologist but one could assume that he had been recruiting kids from that area while at Clemson (hate to bring that school up) and is transitioning to recruiting FL. I'm sure FL is divided up among the coaches especially since we are light on cash to fly them around instead of driving. I get that but his #1 priority should have been to hire a coach with great recruiting ties in this area. You can see 10 of the best 100 florida players within a 30 minute drive of campus. I'm not saying Scott should have done the same as far as cheating but the reason Strong had success at Louisville is because he hired Clint Hurtt who brought him teddy bridgewater and the miami 5. What do you notice? It is evident that a solid FBS-BCS team can be built without ever having to leave FL. That's definitely one of the biggest reasons for the success of CJL and CWT. Kind of upsetting that teams like Temple are out-recruiting USF when it comes to FL and the Bay area. 1

That’s how you recruit, do that and get those FSU/UF/Miami ooc games and those kids will play hard for that upset victory.
