Can team X get us more dollars a piece than we get without them

Winning has a lot to do with attendance, merchandise, TV which has a lot to do with what a team can deliver.  Flaky fan bases like ours don't deliver as much when losing...

This is true but if two fanbases have demonstrated the same flakiness I am not sure that the nod goes to simply who is winning at the moment, but maybe it that capricious in instances  where you have no interest in exploring the details of the choices you don’t want enough to learn about.

Kansas State University president Richard Myers and athletics director...

Houston, Cincinnati, BYU and Memphis or UCF if BYU says no.

Heartbreaking for USF and the others if true.

I think most of us know it is all about the name brand and not about recent on field success.  That said, it is unfortunate that this chaos once again is occuring while we have  a putrid team.  I think we would all feel better and less anxious if we were coming off a 10-2 season but I doubt it would factor in as much as what the powers that be think the program can bring to the table as a whole in the future.

I am a lot less anxious this time around than the first go. It is not like we are losing AQ status again, we aren’t losing anything. The only thing that is happening is the gap is widening between top conferences and the rest.

This one hurts a lot less than the BE dissolving. My opinion.

The article says their blogs sources named those teams, not KSU's. "schools such as" seems like they just named the first 4 that came to their mind, I don't put too much stake in that.

For as bad as we've been we still averaged 32k a game when we went 4-8 and 38.5 the year before when we went 7-6. Look at some of the other schools up for expansion's numbers. Cincy/Memphis/Houston get similar or worse when they're actually good.

That article doesn’t even say that much less say that Kanas State said that. Kansas State said they needed to start selecting teams. The article then said from teams like… That’s really not the same thing as Kansas State saying we’re going after these teams in this order.

I understand your point and my greatest concern about all of this is if the idea of the expanded 12 team playoff gets shelved.  I often wonder how many potential recruits did not even look at USF only because of the loss of BCS status.

The purpose of the expanded playoff is to make the divide greater not to shrink it, the haves get 7 more spots to add to their current 4 spots and divide among the same amount of teams that then get to divide a single spot. For that they get a Cinderella story to highlight and draw fans with, less scrutiny on leaving them all out and the ability to give them an insurmountable gauntlet to the winner of the G5 hunger games with their seeding.  No access is being expanded its just an illusion because accumulating wealth and power isn't really best accomplished by giving it away for no apparent reason.
