I think USF will get left out of this round of expansion and have to join CUSA. Maybe Houston, SMU, UCF, and USF can hold down a conference and put a team in the 6th auto bid spot. I do think these 4 schools have potential, but will get a craptastic media deal making it hard to compete.

Ironically if FSU and Clemson moved to the big East during the negotiations the big east could get a way larger media deal, likely larger than the ACC which could be good for FSU and Clemson. Obviously wont happen but if I were leading the Big East I would at least give it a shot for schools to jump into our league to help get a larger media deal than they currently have in the ACC. No harm if they say no. Yes Big 12 offers better deal but may not be expanding.

Boise, San Diego state, byu in talks with Mwc about rejoining.... Article on espn now......awesome

Completely false. The San Diego Newspaper quoted the SDSU AD about this article and he flat out said it was false, they have not talked to MWC and are still joining BE.

San Diego State Athletic Director Jim Sterk said Monday afternoon that the Aztecs have not talked to the Mountain West about a possible return, and that they intend to continue with their plans to move to the Big East in 2013.

This comes after ESPN.com reported Monday that “Boise State, San Diego State and BYU have had conversations with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the league.

“I have not spoken to the (Mountain West) commissioner since May, and there’s been no communication with them,†Sterk said. “Our president has just been on a call with Boise State, and they haven’t had any communication with the Mountain West either, and the president at BYU hasn’t had communications with them either.â€

For those interested in more rumors, @thedudeofwv is another person who claims to have inside b12 knowledge. Not sure why so many wvu boosters are claiming to be in the know. Take it with however much salt you want. Its probably not all true... But probably not all false. Gist of things: FSU and Clem have standing b12 offers, though im not sure why clem wouldnt accept. FSU pres is opposed to abandoning ACC. Both he and @mhver3 claim big ten expressed interest in cu and fsu, but at same time claim ga tech and uva are likely big ten targets

So, does SEC sit back and watch or do they also make a move for Va Tech and NC state?

ACC may lose another 6 teams.

ACC becomes old big east and a basketball conference

Adds USF, UCF, Cincy, Louisville, Uconn, Temple. Not sure if ACC academic high horses could stomach it.

Want nothing to do with UCF. Don't know why so many of you want to be tied to their hip. We used to be a pair with UL & UC, and you want to downgrade that to UCF?

Need major shakeups in the ACC and quickly. Ideally everything happens fast. If it happens slow we risk MWC schools bailing and us getting stuck in CUSA.

If Clemson & FSU go to the B12 and the B1G goes back in for GT and UVA we'd be in great shape.

Surprised I never signed up here.

-----------

Anyway, I don't see why the ACC goes for a 16 team conference by adding (or trying to add) UCONN, Louisville, and USF. Maybe Cincy instead of Louisville, only because Louisville could (should?) Get an offer from the Big 12.

This would cause the big east as a football conference to implode, leading to a basketball-only type big east. Or, maybe those schools are picked up by other conferences, and thus ends the Big East.

His source is likely an ESPN co-worker/boss/himself.

Maybe the ACC takes USF and UCF, both schools fire their coaches, and both schools get Bowdens to coach their programs (e.g.- Tommy at USF, Terry at UCF). that would create a buzz and a rivalry like no other
