They're just listening to everyone at this part. That list would make a decent conference though haha

So considering the number of teams the big 12 is having discussions with, maybe this idea isn't too far off... Thing BIG folks... Really big.

Add 14 teams, make a two tiered 24 team super conference. Teams get moves between the top and bottom tier. The two tiers ends up always being super competitive. The top having many ranked teams, the bottom being the best mid major every year.

So what does this do for you?

1. Top-to-bottom competitiveness

Kansas and Iowa State would likely be relegated soon in favor of, say, Boise State or USF. After them, two teams ranked in the 60s or 70s could be replaced by two in the top 40.

Within a few years, most of your top-12 teams rank within the country's top 50 at worst. Top-to-bottom, this would be a brutal, exciting, competitive Big 12 as teams fight for top-level membership.

In 2022 or so, maybe you have this, with Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech battling to make it back up:

  • NorthBoise StateBYUCincinnati, Navy, Oklahoma State, West Virginia
  • South: Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, UCF

It would also make the Little 12 the best mid-major conference. The Little 12 could have a champion like North Dakota State or Memphis or a bounce-back team like a West Virginia.

And competitiveness creates must-watch television.

farm league for B12 and teams can be promoted/demoted, lol, genius. UT is probably already preparing conditional exit papers. To be fair, they might have already been doing that for adding anyone but UH, though.

Not saying this guy knows what's going on but; http://www.espn.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/114001/big-12-mailbag-expansion-final-rose-edition

Trotter: There's definitely an upside element to the directional Floridas that has drummed up interest the Big 12. Orlando and Tampa are both top 20 media markets, the enrollments at both schools are enormous and there's plenty of nearby high school talent for both football programs to quickly ascend. If you're looking to buy low on a pair of expansion candidates, Central and South Florida are your schools.

That's a nice shout out for us. :GoBulls:

If anybody can make magic happen, it's Rob Higgins.  If we don't get in, it won't be because we didn't try.
