You're right.  It's dumb.  But no "professional journalist" in or out of town seems to know or care about how USF performed when it was ALREADY IN a P5 equivalent.  

What was its attendance like THEN?  How many games did it win THEN?  Was it able to compete/recruit?  This data gets ignored, even though the other schools (save for Cincy and UCONN) have no comparable data.

Moral of the story - don't believe everything you read in the paper.  And understand that truly "objective" journalism is a thing of the past, if it ever really existed to begin with.

It's probably more likely than a Big 12 invite, but at least we can remain positive because it's a better situation than the Sun Belt

Who ever gets left out will have a hard time growing the program.   This would be a blow to USF's objectives and goals.

I know I want USF to get into the Big-12 for very selfish reasons but this reporter might was well say.  I am spinning this story so my car does not get keyed or even worse fire bombed by UCiF fans.   

No way in hell should UCF be rated over USF for inclusion into the Big-12.   It seems that the on-campus stadium is the difference maker.  Then, I would announce we are building one and start the effort.   Get some designs and clear the area.

What really bothers me is that we are looked at as lesser than the P5, when there are several P5 schools that would have no shot if they weren't already in their perspective conferences.
