I miss the Trib.  Never really been a fan of the Times (except Auman), and this is one good example why.

**** good thing the competence and coverage of local media wasn't included in the Knight/Auman report.

Looking forward to all the stories in the Times about why the Rays should play in another city instead of St. Pete... you know, being objective and all.  Remember, it's the media's job to tell it like it is, so...

Here's two examples of why markets are by far the most important factor:

1. Rutgers

2. Boise State

Different circumstances. They had a network AND they own 49% of it. The Big 12 doesn't have a network, and aren't looking to renegotiate their TV deal...that's why they're endorsing a school within their footprint

I would be shocked if they are not looking at a network.  For one thing, the Longhorn Network has been a disaster.  No guarantees that get renewed, odds would be against it.

Second, you get to 14 teams there is plenty of content even without Texas, and I'm thinking you could work a deal.  Too much money to leave on the table to not have a network.

^ Noy only that, but wasn't it the ACC's announcement that it had a network that prompted the Big XII to reconsider expansion?  If that's true, then wouldn't that at least be one important factor when considering who should be invited to join?

There were rumors that without an ACC network, Florida State and Clemson would be exploring greener pastures.  Now that appears to be shut down.

Here's an interesting article that said when the Big 12 expands, the SEC should grab OK and OK State to go to 16.

Who knows what is going to happen.  I wouldn't even be surprised if the Big 12 doesn't expand at all for a couple years.

Go Bulsl!

I'm positive that the Sun will rise tomorrow morning and that some one will write another realignment article. Does that make me an insider? :hijack:
