Lot of these were in my mid to late 20's ... sounds like you were just behind me.  We preferred Jellyrolls to Howl at the Moon though

They both were good-- basically the same shtick. But yeah Jellyrolls was the original one on a nicer corner bar in downtown. Howl was more of a franchise-- I recall one we went to in Orlando (Church Street) occasionally.

Brings me to all the times I met up with my folks at Malio's (~ Kennedy and Dale, since demolished though the one downtown might still exist- not sure). I used to meet my dad for happy hour there quite often and then had some good steak. It is also the bar we went to not long after my mom's funeral to celebrate her life. It was convenient when I started working at the Time Customer Services high rise offices nearby after years at the 30th street facility (next to the Strohs/Pabst/Schlitz/Youngling plant).

A favorite haunt for years for lunch or happy hour was also that Chili's  on 30th and Fowler. Old timer with cheese please!

Tanga was on the Courtney Campbell Causeway back in the day.  It was next to a Japanese steak house and some joint that had great Philly cheesesteaks.

I'm talking 1975 to 1985.  Greenery was the place to be especially if you lived in Fontana.  Tapper Pub/Red Mule at 15th and 131st, Alamo, Morgan's and Char-Pal.  One night in 79-80, cops were about to raid Char-Pal and arrest the owners, dancers and patrons who got a bit too close when plain clothes came in the back door and alerted about 10 of us college kids it was about to go down and they escorted us outside.  Good times!

GO BULLS!

There were a couple more strip clubs added eventually--- one was a little "high end" or thought was -- I think that was called Charlottes? The other was was a straight up nasty dump. We tried that Charlottes place once on a whim-- and said screw them when the ATM was charging like 10 bucks just to take out whatever. I mean we hung out a bit and watched etc but they were not as naked as Tanga so it seemed like a bad choice.

Other than the other strip clubs like Mons or 2001 (along with the ton of dumps on Nebraska ave near school) - we also like a place on Hillsborough ave called The Seven Seas. They had a glass shower inside where ladies put on shows together. It was just good clean fun-- no one was hurt (during the show--- not counting the trauma from their dad). What can I say-- we attended a lot of bachelor parties. I think the last time I was at 7 Sea I ended up taking home a stray dog. Only in Tampa does that type of stuff happen.

The Greenery (spelling?) was a complete dive. Used to have a beer or two with Professor Levy from the political science department.

Shocked that the Greenery was relegated to page 2...

Same 😂. I was looking for it and did not see it. It was low hanging fruit for sure.

Technically it was in the first original thread post that started this-- I just called it by the wrong name.

moving along a few years later -- and these bars might have had USF students at them as well. I like that some mentioned the SoHo bars like MacDintons.

I was a big fan of Red Dog on Bay to Bay Blvd (appears they changed their name to simply "The Dog")  and Four Green Fields-- had Irish musicians a lot and was packed on St Patty's. Drank a ton of Harp's there.
