What happens if CJL openly endorsed the plan...

he's never coming back here. not sure he would even show for the ceremony if we named a stadium after him. he certainly won't come back as a coordinator who makes $300k a year.

The more get away from this board and look at it logically the more I think you are correct. Further to come back here as a DC would be slumming for him. He will get a job at a P5 school as a DC by January is my guess.

If we averaged 8-5 we would be an above average program.

But will you take 8-5 year after year? I think some will grow tired of it without a conference championship at some point. But yes, 8-5 right now I will be jumping up and down!

Has anyone publicly stated they turned down the job? NO!

I take yhe media for what they're worth, lies inuendo and pure speculation.

Yep. I just saw on a other board two posters both saying they’ve heard Kiffin has already signed, but one is saying it’s Ole Miss, the other is saying it’s Arkansas. Clearly Kiffin didn’t sign with both.

I believe the thinking would be much different this go round.

If he beats UCF, I don't think the rest would matter too much.

That last sentence is a great point and QFT. But older people like me we want one championship before we leave...

signing with both schools would be a classic Kiffin move.

LOL - I'm not sure if you're serious, but if you are, this is incredibly naive.  It's the nature of sports fandom to always want more.  A few years of 8-5 would be fine but any coach that plateaus out at 8 wins is not long for their job for many years afterward.  I mean, isn't that unofficially what got CJL run from USF?

I don’t know a **** thing. But it seems many people post confidently about their own knowledge or rumors, ones which cannot possibly be true.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
