I'm all in on Lane. Why wouldn't we want a guy who's all about himself and looking for a promotion? The only way he's getting back to the big time is by kicking ass at USF.

Lane isn’t jumping from G5 to G5

With all the P5 openings, it would be an absolute steal if we ended up with Scott over Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Missouri, FSU...

Scott is a co oc. Elliott is main play caller. I imagine he will have to prove himself before getting a bigger job.

Things in our favor:

1) He's making $950,000. Assume we're going to pay whoever the next guy is $2-$2.5 million.

2) Florida, where he's been coaching.

3) Another step closer to being attractive to a P5 job. If he's already thinking that's going to take a few more years, why make $3 million when you can $6 million?

Things against us:

1) Pretty much everything else.

we won't pay that much. I'm guessing $1.5 - $1.75

if we break the bank and give out unfavorable contract terms again on a splash, can't miss hire then we are truly morons

You don’t think Lane will get P5 offers? I hear he’s a top candidate for Arkansas

It wouldn't surprise me either way. I could definitely see Arkansas or Ole Miss trying to make a splash with him, but I could also see a lot of ADs not wanting to bother with someone so high risk.

What was xCWT's initial contract for? I saw Holtz got $1.8 in 2010.

5 years $5.75M

USF contract for Taggart: Five years, $5.75 million

So that's probably the base if we try and go after a current lower HC. Scott is already making $1 million.
