Jim Leavitt 500-1

Current Job: Quality Control Analyst, Florida State University.

Last Job: Defensive Coordinator, University of Oregon.

Pluses: The statute of limitations for obstructing a university investigation has lapsed, meaning he can’t be charged for lying to it. Won nine games a few times. Consistent top-25 defenses, great recruiter who has shown the ability to find diamonds in the rough, motivator who is able to get the team up for big games. Consistently able to put more than 300 Bulls fans in the stands at any given time. Never lost to UCF. Had his team ranked multiple times. Wins over top-10 opponents. Ties to Tampa Bay area and proven recruiter in this specific region. That bank in downtown Tampa may have to find the green and gold lights again, they're probably REALLY dusty. Finally... "Kayvon Webster!" (for those that don't get that reference, CJL recruited him with I believe a top-25 class and promised Kayvon that he would open the press conference on NSD with his name. I don't know why, but, that story sticks out to me. A man who loved his job and was building something and has now had to sit on the sidelines while others have torn it apart)

Minuses: Lied to a university investigation. Tried to get others to lie for him. Ran his players so hard in practices and got them into such emotional frenzies that they had nothing left in November. Got outmaneuvered by Randy Edsall on several occasions. Really intense. Scares co-workers sometimes. NFL scouts at practice and games, national attention on the team that could turn negative with late season losses (of course, that also means that the team is relevant again, because I don't think any of the national media really cared when CCS was losing games late in the season). Post-game traffic!

Just stop it. Seriously. Y’all act like Leavitt was your first girlfriend from high school. It’s embarrassing.

I think he would have a few in the last 10 years if he weren’t fired.

He had 5 years in a BCS (power 5) conference. 5 years!!!!We just fired CCS in 3 years and hell Taggart didn't even make it to to 2 years at FSU. I remember a lot of losing in November and underachieving back then as well. So basically, CJL needed 6-8 years to win 10 games at USF?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
