obviously if he thought FSU job would be open and he'd have a shot he would have stayed one more year. He will succeed at FSU. They have 4 losses. All to ranked teams. 3 of those losses were by 7

Hmm once you do a thing in football (apparently not win bowl games), you usually get tons of 3rd, 4th, and 5th looks.

There is a 100% chance that xCWT gets a HC job again if FSU fires him. He might drop down to a G5 job for a couple years, but he'll be back. Unless you think Lane is going to stay at FAU forever and isn't going to be coaching some P5 team again soon.

Doubtful in my opinion. His teams are not doing much they are just bumbling along. There are many other people who get an opportunity before he will.
