Taggart would have USF on fire right now if he had stayed. He could have been a legend here, but he chased the money (I don't blame him for that).

I agree.  But we're not UCiF.  Got to move on.

Taggart was always looking out for #1.  Even when he finally decided to "let him cook" and turned Q loose, he was looking out for himself , his seat was HOT, and that changed it.

I just can't believe the arguments some of you have. clearly you're trying to protect jim's legacy as the best coach ever at USF. Sorry but Taggart is 43 and has completely rebuilt 2 programs and is currently in the process of rebuilding his 3rd in 9 years of being a HC. You don't tend to have great overall records when you rebuild programs.

Maybe he should try staying somewhere for a minute and try rebuilding his record, nothing outlandish but perhaps he could maybe get to .500.

Frost was looking out for himself just as Heupel will be looking our for himself. we are not a destination job. neither is UCF. you should want ambitious coaches that want to move up the career ladder.

he is only 43 and has one of the best jobs in all of college football. nothing wrong with moving up the ladder. can't imagine he is concerned with his overall record at this point in his career. rebuilding programs will have that effect on your overall record.

blame leavitt for what? puc doesn't think Taggart rebuilt our program. clearly he did. it wasn't his fault we made a terrible hire and Strong came in and destroyed us.

not sure of your point here

Because you can have a good year and not have rebuilt anything, building something involves sustainability and you can’t have sustainability if you don’t stay long enough to see if you accomplished anything or were just another flash in the pan.

Taggart rebuilt our program.

Tags had two winning seasons 8-5 and 11-2 and then bolted.  Those were preceded by losing seasons.  Overall losing record.  He did get the win total up and that would lead some to think he built a foundation.  But we never had a foundation.  As board denizens will tell you, we (he) never won anything.  He put enough lipstick on the pig to get to the next gig.

Agree.  Would rather the guy trying to make a name.  We should try to do more to keep them around longer though.  Not saying that would be easy at all.

we had a great foundation. just because strong came in here and blew it up doesn't mean Taggart didn't leave us much better off.

we did win. we had the best year(s) in our short history. he did what he was hired to do. I don't fault him for leaving for a much better job. I would have done the same thing.

almost impossible to keep them around. we can't compete with the top 35 or so programs in the country when it comes to cash and situation.

Wasn’t it 10-2? With the 10 wins over

San Jose State

Stony Brook

Illinois (2-10)

Temple

East Carolina

Cincy (4-8)

Tulane

Uconn

Tulsa

Texas Tech (6-7)

Were we actually rebuilt or did we play a bunch of awful teams?
