Just making sure everyone understands that Ken has never been the head coach of USA Softball in an Olympics. Softball hasn't been an Olympic sport in a while, and the last time it was, he was an assistant coach. 

This is a big deal, and Joey's tweet was appropriate for the level of news-worthyness of the announcement. 

Not Joey's fault that many of us got out our wish lists and started to guess/hope for something that you deemed a bigger deal.

Many USA national teams will have a regular coach for the non-Olympic years, then make a splash hire for the Olympics. 

When Coach K coaches USA men's basketball, it isn't for all 4 years, it is just for the Olympics or some big tournament. 

The fact that any coach in America would have loved this job, and they gave it to Ken speaks volumes. This is a big deal.

When it translates to more than just regional burnouts year after year is when it will become very cool news for USF.
