Coastal alos hit .293 as a team and lead the nation in runs and HR while beine top five in a few other offensive cats. They were a pretty complete team that year. they had the discussion of not only leading the nation in HR but also being top five in Sac Bunts, a unique combination of small ball and long ball to go with the nations best pitcher and a top notch staff behind him. They were fun to watch.

Absolutely.  They caught lightning in a bottle and had a great run.   They are also on a very good run of good years, but overall I don't think we are being drastically outperformed year in and year out by them, Stetson,  FGCU, ucf, etc.   Obviously a national title (real, not fictional)  carries a lot of weight

Beckwith was a beast down the stretch and into the CWS. No one will put up those numbers again any time soon. Not because no one is good enough to do it, but no coach these days would "risk" a future draft pick by going against the grain and running up his pitches in such a short timeframe.

I'm not so sure about that.

It would likely take another Coastal Carolina and a roster of guys who feel like they have something to prove. I don't see Tim Corbin running Raby out there for 3 starts in the CWS and 23 2/3 innings in 9 days.

it takes a special guy to do it. A Madison Bumgarner or Max scherzer type competitor. It's only a risk if the pitcher sees it that way.

I gotcha.  That is a little extreme

USF's baseball facilities have been upgraded substantially (thank you Lelo Prado)

Coastal Carolina had one really good run behind some great pitching and a hot streak.

Those other guys aren't outperforming us year in and year out.

And Doug Woolard.

Despite this sub-par season, Baseball is actually one of our most successful sports overall really, if you consider the amount of NCAA regionals tournaments we have been to in our history, in comparison to most of our other sports making NCAA tourney appearances.  The only teams that might compare are Softball, and maybe Mens Soccer, and Women's basketball recently.

However, from a Baseball perspective, we very very rarely seem to capitalize on our opportunities in terms of winning Conference Champions and have Never made it past the first round of the Regionals.......which seems to be pretty much a theme at USF unfortunately.

Just curious how many teams make a regional? Is it 64 like basketball?
