That's the seal.  It wasn't the academics logo.  These were the academic logos before the Merrill Lynch bull one:

What's wrong with the seal is that it's not easily scaled. There's too much detail to allow for it to be shrunk down for use on smaller items. The :iconic_u_black: can be distinguished even at the size in this sentence. You can't do that with the seal.
