(2-11) San Jose State - win by 20, but down 16-0 in Q1. San Jose was one of the worst teams in the country in 2017 (FCS) Stony Brook - Win by 14, trailed 10-7(!) at half (5-7) Tulane - Won by 6 @ home (2-10) Tulsa - Won by 7 @ home (3-9) UConn - won by 17 @ home UConn & SJSU were 2 of the worst teams in FBS football that year. Wins by 17 & 20 point margins with the talent we had is embarrassing. This isn’t even counting the Houston loss which was severely mismanaged, as well as the obvious Orlando game Edited October 8, 2019 by IBulleve

This isn’t even counting the Houston loss which was severely mismanaged, as well as the obvious Orlando game The SJSU game, the first game with a new staff and totally new systems, was basically over at the half after 28 2nd qtr points and 42 total unanswered. UCONN was a 27 point game entering the 4th quarter. No one with a lick of common sense call those 2 games "barely" winning. The SB, Tulane and Tulsa games were all outliers from the rest of the wins that season. The average margin of victory in 2017 was 15 pts , 3 more than the previous year with an All Pro NFL RB in the backfield with Q. Saying CCS "barely" won 10 games with Q that year is pretty much indefensible ...

Yes the offense did score some points in spite of his philosophy of slowing down the offense but you started to see his stamp of futility.

This isn’t even counting the Houston loss which was severely mismanaged, as well as the obvious Orlando game We also beat Illinois 47-23 Temple 43-7 ECU 61-31 Cincy 33-3 We were in position to win Houston & UCF. It took a minor miracle for Houston to win that game. UCF wound up #6 that year, and they were very, very good. We stayed with them all the way in that game. It took a KO return for a TD, and a Wilcox fumble for them to finally win that game. Granted, we had a mostly garbage schedule, but I don't think there was much to be embarrassed about that year.
