I think it's naive to believe the kids were not thinking about how the new uniforms looked. You can see by their reactions that they were jacked up for it. It probably wasn't a major issue, as it was stated, they played about the same as normal; but I'm sure they were a little distracted by it. I think CCS was responding to a direct question about the kids and the uniforms and he was just answering the question, not making excuses.

His uniform comments are as valid as the war flamingo complaints. They don’t hold water

CCS is dead on. It's a football game not a fracking fashion show.

Maybe our team would be more comfortable on the catwalk and the  runway if they are so concerned with how they look.

Absolutely not and this is the worst excuse ever.  All this does is show how out of touch he is as a coach.

You really think the defense couldn't anticipate QB draws on on 3rd and long all night because they were wearing black?  How bout those first two interceptions we threw?  Would Wilcox have made the catches if he had worn the exact same clothes he practiced in?

Maybe the reason this team doesn't appear to improve from week to week is because our coaches are the ones focused on the wrong things.

All those excellent Oregon teams certainly struggled with different unis every week.  What were we thinking?

So what would that be, winning games?

CCS is dead wrong.  Uniforms have nothing to do with play.  Kids like flashy uniforms so let them have it.

If anything it's just an excuse because the coaches coached such a rotten game.  The uniforms had no bearing on the play on the field.  None whatsoever.  Just sounds like a terrible excuse by strong.

I think the issue for me was how it was done. It would have been better IMO to announce it early in the week as opposed 15 min till kickoff. Someone mentioned Oregon does this all the time but that is a part of their culture when the $ come from an alumnus in the apparel industry. Our kids were looking in the mirror at themselves 10 min before KO. It’s great to be jacked up as long as it is directed properly. Now, does this explain our typical slow start? No way those issues are bigger but the way this was done did not help IMO.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
