Maybe ESPN wants to help schedule lower level matchups so our strength of schedule isn't as good and there is no chance of a G5 school going to the playoff. Who knows with them.

We have played Baylor and TCU.  In fact, we were almost in the same conference at TCU twice!

We were in the same conference as TCU at one time and it was not the BIg East.

I’m very intrigued if this is a good or bad thing....I feel like they’re helping to get better matchups for TV but could this help us in the future for conference shifts if we perform well?

I would think ESPN's sole interest is to create ratings. So they are probably not interested in seeing this UMass 1 and 1 nonsense continue. It devalues a property they already have.  No one wants to put that on TV.

I would think they would want to create interesting matchups that mostly benefit them. So could they get USF v ND in a 1 and 1 where USF is the home team at a neutral site, say Dublin? Or a 1 and 1 with Boise State or San Diego State. There may be an interest in those games. Maybe more games with ACC teams. They would have an interest in BYU's schedule being better especially in October and November.

That TCU win in 2004 was one of our strangest in history. Does anyone remember why we won?

Yes.  Remember that!  We had quite a few OT victories in that era.  It's been so long, I get the memories all mixed up.

We had 3 2OT games (out of 11) in 2003.  Crazy.

Believe one of those was my first USF game v Cinci. May have been Halloween.

I think Michael Kelly is on record as saying they want 7 home games next year.

That’s doable - with non-conference home games with Wisconsin and BYU on the schedule and a road game at Georgia Tech I’d expect an FCS school to be added as the 7th home game.

I'm not sure if an FCS game comes close to paying for itself?
