UCF can hold their own in football, but should save the academic smack for in state rivals closer to them in the rankings such as FIU and Nova Southeastern.

I read in here people didn’t like the athletic logo when it first came out?  Why?

There was a lot of feeling it was too generic and too corporate when it was first released.

Preeminent scoreboard UCF! Just look up and be jealous of our academics and research.

Interesting take...

It’s just that my civic duty as an Orlando resident requires me to make fun of USF whenever possible.

This decision was Judy’s Waterloo. Somehow someway staff/faculty must have been requesting a seperste brand for academics/university programs. Why? I have no idea. I have taught at five major research universities and none of them have separate logos or brands. But then to follow it up with an atrocious looking logo is beyond comprehension. You screwed up Judy on your way out the door...

Miami uses the U for athletics and academics, and in searching Miami of Ohio also uses the athletics logo....

Nothing wrong with our U

Well, that's because they took a risk in creating their logo. They asked people if they liked it.

Research conducted on the new identity, which included focus groups in three major cities and an alumni survey, affirmed the positive attributes of the split-U mark. It is perceived as diverse, modern, confident, and bold. By employing this singular image, the University will capitalize on the power of a new identity that links schools, colleges, centers, and institutes while representing the institution as a whole.

That sounds like hippie nonsense to me.
