you might as well be asking how can USF win the Super Bowl.

Bama could do it, so why can’t we?

My concern is taking a P5 offer and having the league disband after 2 years, wasting resources that could have been spent to lobby for a better conference, but being stuck in the same predicament again.

Outside of Oklahoma and Texas the Big 12 gets no respect in football even though it's a P5. Also those two teams are probably the conferences meal ticket to getting more TV dollars in the football side of things. Those two teams leave and the Big 12 essentially becomes the AAC 2.0.

Look, I get that is a possibility, but there is also the possibility that if the Big 12 expands to 14 or more then it survives and grows.

My point is simply that at this time, with us being stuck in the American, we will never be able to compete for a national title and are considered to be in the minor leagues.

Going from a former Power Conference to the lower tier has done a tremendous amount of damage both financially and from a prestige standpoint and USF must do everything it can to be back in one of the P5 conferences. Barring that, we will always be looked upon as the little brother to FSU, UM and UF.

Do you honestly believe that they are not doing everything they can?

Agreed.

The B12 is a big tire fire in the making. However you take the B12 $ for as long as it lasts. USF and the other rumoured teams for a hypothetical B12 expansion might end up on the outside when the B12 implodes but they are just too good to not find a landing spot like the AAC. Take the money, take the recruiting, take what the P5 label gives you. If you end up back where you were you end up back there with more money and having increased your national exposure for a while.

It wouldn't have been a marathon if they had just had them ride the eagles to Mordor/Mt. Doom like they did when they rode out.

Eagles are bandwagon fans and only jump on after a victory.

If Oklahoma makes it to the playoffs a number of years before tv contracts are reopened it is possible they will want to stay in the Big12. This would be a lot easier than being successful in the Big 10 or sec. if Oaky stays TX woukd too.

Only way a G5 gets in is to run the table one year followed by having a bomb out of conference schedule (a la Houston) then run the table AGAIN. Only then may they get in.
