Every aspect of this team graded out as an F this week. This isn't a very good football team, but even by that standard played poorly.

It complacency and playing it safe on O that is killing this team.

They expected to be able to just open up the O and have everything work no problem. Well there you go...

You settle for the field goal going up the middle twice instead of going for the win and then don't take the extra 20 secs off the clock which comes back and bits you in the ass

Yeah. It was inflated by cupcakes.

To be clear, we do have great offensive talent.

Gilbert just is inept at using it.

Hopefully he sticks around long enough to recruit the players for his vision because he's proven an inability to adjust his system to his players.

Came here to say the same thing.  We played it safe at the end and went for 3 and left them enough time to drive down the field and score a touchdown.  The sad thing is, if we had gotten the first down when in field goal range, we could have run the clock down and then iced it with a score.  You do that and the defensive execution on fourth down doesn't even come into play.

agreed. play for the win. don't play not to lose.

one first down and the fluke play never happens

Everything should be put in context.  30 ppg isn't really that good when your team had the ability and opportunity to hang 50 on them.  Did anybody really feel that good about our O after last week's win.  I know I didn't, despite the win and the 30 north points

That was some of the worst clock management I’ve seen

On a positive note, QF threw it pretty well today. 23-38 325 yards. He seems to start many games by firing shorts passes 10 yards over everybody's head, then settles down. MVS 10 catches 186 yards, and 462 yards of total offense. They definitely need to be more creative as far as play calling, but it really came down to our failure to knock down that 4th & 24 pass. On to UConn.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
