Scheduling a 12 game for 2017

To think that we wouldn't have to even worry about SDSU or Boise being threats from the MWC for the G5 spot had they just joined the Big East .

Maybe.  But it isn't an easy thing, which is why non-conference games are typically scheduled years in advance.

Here is a new thread on the GT Forum that came up after I stopped looking. Apparently, during the radio show that they do with HC Paul Johnson, he mentioned that he wants a replacement game.

Sorry if this as already been answered, but why didn't USF just reschedule with UMASS if we both share an open date?

This big time.  They traded us for FIU so they now have 12 games. When it was all sorted out we should have just changed their game to October 7th but we thought the extra bye week would be to our advantage.  I would say a game against UMass would be a great extra practice.
