Tried to search around on GT's forum about who they wanted to possibly fill in for the 7th, and they seemed pretty interested in the idea of playing us after Indiana scheduled Charleston Southern. They are still pissed off about UCF canceling on them.

12th game isn't needed at this point.  Focus is on winning the conference, and the bye week is needed for that.  Extra game isn't going to push us into the playoff.  Stay undefeated, win conference an

So someone else hinted at this on Facebook earlier and I think it can be done.  UCiF won't reschedule their game with GaTech this year, and both GaTech and USF have October 7th off for a bye week

Well, like here, their FANS wanted to see a replacement game.

Ill and USF were the two obvious teams for them, just like those teams were for us.

The problem is that both our AD's wanted to keep the bye week to be in the best possible shape for conference play.

Personally, I don't think that both AD's have thrown out the idea of finding a 12th game. The article that you posted is the only one that I have found discussing this and it was posted the day after it was announced that the GT/UCF game was canceled. If it was posted after Indiana filled in their game and there were other reports talking about this, I would have more confidence that this game is not going to happen.

I also would have liked to see us schedule GT (preferably at home), if possible, to replace UMass, but the AD and CCS have to balance what is best for our team, rather than our fans.

Winning the conference is more important and keeping the bye week puts us in a better position to do that.
