We just need a good coach who desperately wants to live in Florida regardless of the situation and has good recruiting ties. Is that too much to ask for?  :(

Chris Caputo from Miami then. Certainly big enough for this job, hasn't been a HC before but been with Larranaga for the past 15 years and spent 9 years at the mid-major level at George Washington. Good recruiter, good understanding of Florida, good understanding of how to develop players.

I am assuming he already said no because I think he would be a great hire.

So, Antigua v 2.0? Never been a head coach. Long-time assistant to a successful head coach. Known for recruiting and developing players. Not sure about his understanding of Florida, he has 2 kids on the roster from the state. Miami is as bad at keeping kids home as we are.

In fairness, Miami has never gotten caught out for basketball recruiting violations (football is a different story).

And I guess you have a point, just pointing out that he would know how to run a school like USF. Antigua was only ever associated with UK and other high major schools.

He comes up every time we have an opening.

I'm not sure anyone can bring energy to this fan base right now.

How about a young and successful Florida HS coach who was a star at USF...REGGIE KOHN?

He would bring excitement and a boatload of Florida talent.

McCall, Dooley, and Driscoll are all names that interest me.  There's been chatter about Richard Pitino but I don't think it's legit, we could compete with his current pay at Minnesota, or see why he would take what is seen as a step down to a program in chaos.

Agree, no way on Pitino but the other guys have a chance and would be serviceable

I'm not against him at all. There won't ever be a slam-dunk hire for a school with our budget and history, but he has a solid resume. The flip side to being a good coach on paper is Antigua...or Holtz.

Johnny Jones was fired at LSU. No Florida connections but has been all over the South. He had one losing season in the SEC and coached under Dale Brown.

At this point it's not like it can get much worse, so might as well take a swing at someone who could be good, rather than someone who has proven to be okay.

I can't see us going with Bartow unless no one else wants the job. My guess is Harlan is waiting until after the final four to see if any big name coaches do become available and if they would want the USF job. I did hear the Donovan has been looking to go back into college so we could at least see if he would be interested. Can't hurt to ask just don't know if we could afford him

:lmao:
