If Taggart is Oregon's first choice, then what's the holdup? I think more is at play here then we may think.

Oregon is doing their due diligence, and obviously don't feel Taggart is far and away the best possible choice.  Doesn't mean they won't hire him.

But if CWT really said "nothing is happening at this time", I have to assume that he would jump at the job if offered.

I think they're probably trying to lure Chip Kelly. Let's face it, he's an ace college guy, but with the Eagles and 49ers, it's been a disaster. He'll compete for national titles at Oregon yearly, even with the resurgence of the Trojans, Bruins, and the Washington Schools.

This ^^^. I think Kelly is Oregon's guy. The hold up may have to do with the NFL and their contract issues.

Not at all.  Hot and Spicy wings are neither hot nor spicy.  This has been extensively covered on TBP.

It's only been one year at SF.  I don't think Kelly is going to give up yet.  He will probably have the #1 overall pick in the draft in 2017.

If anything is holding up Kelly it's that his dad died Friday and he's at the funeral today. Nothing to-do with the NFL and their issues. If it had to do with NFL contract issues it would have leaked by now as the 49ers organization has more leaks than a sinking boat usually.

Maybe, but, I doubt that it's that cut and dry. First, he has to see what the offer is... what if they only offer him $3M? What if they offer $4M and USF counters with $3M? I don't think his phone is going to ring with a 541 area code and CWT is going to answer saying "I ACCEPT!"
