I am thinking in year one there really was not a lot of talent with experience. Combine that with an offense that was painfully one dimensional with extremely, extremely conservative play calling then throw in the extremely slow pace of play (remember how long it took to simply get the plays called and how many delay of game penalties).

It was basically that same system until Syracuse last year. In year 2 there was just a bit more experience and depth.

Things took off once Taggart let his athletes play and do athletic things.

Give him credit for changing

Now, just please do the same thing with the D

Thankfully he nixed the Power Run thing. I remember around the time of our blowout loss to NC State in 2014, I was thinking that we were light-years away from having a decent team. That Syracuse game last year was a sight for sore eyes, and they never looked back. Considering our schedule next year, that upward trend in the numbers should continue.

It wasn't offensive progression so much as it was offensive idiocy at the philosophical level for a long time. Thank God someone talked him into changing the system.

Think in addition to all the above, we became a team of losers. Attitude wise. That took a while to change.

Two words: Joe . . . Kinnan. I speculate he's made a world of difference.

Totally agree.  I said as much back in 2013 after the McNeese game and got absolutely obliterated for it.
