Do we go after strong if willie leaves?

That would be a phenomenal hire. Almost a lateral move for us. Strong is out of his element in Texas, and (if he were to leave at the end of the season) Taggart has laid a very solid foundation for the team in terms of players and mentality. The "next" coaching staff would be gifted the ability to win immediately with no rebuilding.

CWT is building a house in North Tampa. While anything is possible (including sale of the house), it appears he may be willing to stay for at least the duration of his contract.

Hell Yeah, he just isn't fit for Texas but he would do awesome back in Florida.

I know this is a message board but isn't this too soon to talk about? CWT is from the area and he appears to legitimately love it. His son plays high school ball here and he's in the hotbed on which he recruits the best. Money talks but I bet USF will do everything in thier power to make it worth it for him.

Taggart will be gone to another FL school or school in the south east.

What else are these universities going to say?  "Eat my shorts"?  Of course they are going to play politics and say nice things about the idiots in the Big 12.

I liked the tact taken by Houston, personally. Doesn't have to be as black and white as "Eat my shorts"

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
