Holy crap.  Awesome hire.  Kind of hard to believe he would go from running the entire 16th ranked defense for Tennessee, to safeties coach at USF though.  Hopefully Tags told him if the WoodMiester doesn't cut it this season, it's yours

Where does it say UT was ranked 16th?

I checked total defense and his highest was 32nd. Granted, they went from 103rd to 63rd, to 32nd, to 45th.

Great hire! He brings a ton of knowledge and could be a big time resource for Woodie as a first year DC.

I'm not sure about his recruiting chops but everything else about this hire seems like it's a home run.

From the 1st paragraph of the article:

It’s a savvy move by Taggart in hiring Jancek, who lost his job with the Volunteers earlier this month despite overseeing a defense that was 16th in the FBS this past season in scoring defense (20 points per game).

IF CWT takes job elsewhere after next season. Woody becomes HC. Janeck becomes DC. The line of succession.

From a coordinator at a P5 to a position coach at a G5 .... I'm not getting it.

Since Willie has been allowed to get his own people for asst coaches he has done an outstanding job.

It is a bit strange.  There's something that we don't know and may never know about this move.

Its actually a savvy move considering the sheer length of the Realignment "Rumors", "tweets" "etc" thread he sees we are a team on the rise.
