Amazing how the Lightning, who made it to the Stanley Cup Finals last year waited until the final year of their coaches contract to lock him up.  I realize that recruiting is involved in college football but still believe we should wait until the middle of next year.  In today's TBT:

The Lightning announced a contract extension for coach Jon Cooper, 48, whose current deal was set to expire after this season. The extension is believed to be for at least three years.

Though Cooper's status had created nowhere near the attention as that of captain Steven Stamkos, also in the final year of his contract, this deal ensures continuity and certainty for both sides.

'There's no place I'd rather be,' Cooper said."

So how much more will you be donating to keep CWT our head coach?  I can put you in touch with the head of Major Gifts at the Bulls Club.

I love this donation shaming going around to stifle conversation.   Were the Willie haters raising money to buy him out if we fired him?

Yes I give, I'm a donor and season ticket holder.  If Harlan is passing a hat around for the purpose of keeping CWT  I haven't seen it.

We'll never find another Leavitt for football again (a head coach who was a Bull in his heart). People like Jose Fernandez are special.

Is there a league above the NHL where they triple the coaches salaries when they do well?

CWT should 100% have taken the interview. I don't blame him at all. Professionally, the worst case scenario is he ends up coaching an SEC team for considerably more money, does poorly, and ends up looking for another job where he'll likely still be making millions. With the potential positive scenarios of more money for himself and his staff while staying at USF or more money and doing well at an SEC team, I'd seriously question his decision making skills if he didn't take the interview.

Those who are talking about recruiting making this job different seem to have never worked in any capacity that involves scouting and hiring talent for a company. It's pretty easy to answer any questions that arise about it.

'Coach, why should I go to USF if you're considering other schools?'

'Son, are you considering USF as your only choice to play ball?'

'No.'

'Good. You should go wherever you're valued the most, and I think USF values you more than any other school you're considering because of X and Y. You and I are the same. We've shown our talents and now it's time for universities to recognize our worth. If USF recognizes my worth, then I'll be right there with you next year -- my bet, is that I'll be there next year with you, just with a nicer car. Trust me, the fact that SEC schools are calling me is a good thing for both of us. Now, come join this program and let me show you how it's done.'

He'll stay or he'll go, but if South Carolina is the only options for him currently, he'll stay in Harlan opens the checkbook and that all depends on how much Harlan attributes this winning to season to CWT or whether he attributes it to his staff.

We already know Harlan believes the turnaround is because CWT stuck to his plan.  He said as much.

Prepare to hear Muschamp gets the SC job and an extension for CWT is announced any day now.

I don't blame CWT for interviewing at all.   He's already made USF better than we were when he took the job.
