Then he needs to win the division next year and we'll see what happens. Edited December 2, 2015 by Bull Martin

Then he needs to win the division next year and we'll see what happens.Pay him now, why wait until hes a hot commodity and you have to pay something potentially out of your price range because you gotta compete with the market? You pay him 3 Million this year, a P5 school would have to pay him about 4.5 Million Plus to truly make a huge difference in pay. That 4.5 Million threshold could eliminate a lot of the mid tier schools from poaching him and only keep us susceptible to storied programs that pay 5 Million plus. The way I see it, his buddy Jim Harbaugh is set to make 7 Million this year, and that is with years and years of proven success. As his protege I dont think Tags expects anything remotely close to that ball park because he hasnt proved himself to be that valuable yet. So 3 million would be a doable number for USF and IMO more than fair in Taggarts eyes.

We then continue to win, on our way to another undefeated season, beating teams by an average of 20-25 points and then win another AAC Championship, we are now ranked #2 in the country behind an undefeated SEC team. We play for a national championship under Taggart. Win or lose, why does Taggart leave at that time if he now has access to the top 5 star recruits nationally. You think he would turn down that opportunity to go coach at a school that hasn't played in a national championship in decades or ever for a little more money amd start his system over again...? USF now gets invited to a P5 conference and Taggart has everything he's ever dreamed of right here at his home. We have such untapped potential that with his coaching/recruiting and a little luck to go undefeated through about 20 games, we have everything right here at USF to unlock access to a P5, millions and millions of dollars, and potential national championships? At that point, when we are ranked #2 and playing for the championship, who has it better than we do? Nooooooobody. If it comes to that situation and we can pony up the way Houston is and Memphis was going to do with Fuente, is he motivated by a million more a year for maybe a couple of years or is being home, around his family, with possibly a job he can keep for the rest of his life and earn a paycheck that allows him to live more than comfortably enough for him.Depends on what drives him. If it really just about earning the biggest paycheck then he would bolt. If does well here he could have job security for the rest of his coaching career and make not quite the biggest paycheck, but a pretty **** good one. Just depends on what is thrown at him and who comes calling.

He's beaten 3 or 4 teams that finished over .500 and you guys want to give him $3 million? Wow. Wish you guys were my bosses and I had a couple of good weeks during three years and you locked me up for 5 years at $3 million. I guess I'm just old. But until we do this for more that 8 weeks, I'd rather roll the dice. Yes, I know we are trending upward but still think the middle of next year is fine to decide to extend him. And for a lot less than the numbers you guys are talking about.

Winless UCF just paid a first time HC $600,000 more then Taggart is currently making.
