We are starting to see the talent he has recruited. A month ago I would have said otherwise, but we finally have a semblance of a football team. Let me explain why, once again. First off, He doesn't DESERVE an extension at this point. We all agree on that point. But that is irrelevant. You never wait until the last year to extend a coach, because it can severely affect recruiting. Severely. You either A) Fire a coach, or B. Extend a coach's contract. You never let them play out a contract. That's just not done. Every coach in America will be using it against USF in recruiting. If you really want to see recruiting suffer, then do nothing. If you feel you need to move on, then fire him and move on. If Taggart has a decent year and is brought back, he will be offered an extension at some point next spring/summer. Guaranteed. He isn't playing out his contract if you extend him when he has one year left...

I still feel that way, that being said, 5 wins would be a bit deflating at this point.

Once he hits 5 wins he's a lock to return. As for an extension? I think that's out of the question unless something crazy happens like we win out... Really!!! Going from a 4 win season to a 5 win season in his 3rd year and no bowl, do you really call that improvement or true progress? Sorry but 5 wins and no bowl and he is gone.

Extension? No way. Tom Allen has proven to be a great hire at DC and could take over head coaching if we don't extend and for some insane reason Taggart gets offers elsewhere.
