I'm assuming he means on a regular basis. What's ironic is that you titled the thread "surprise-more of the same" and then you go on to criticize Taggart as you always do. Is that the surprise-more of the same you meant? you being critical?

.... we don't throw the ball on a regular basis.

If you go back and check I haven't posted anything on this topic since the beginning (except for Steuben not drinking enough).  I was commenting on the other article posted by someone else and noticed that he named the WRs.  I'm not a big fan of Taggarts but I think he should get another year (as I've posted in other topics).  But won't cry if he gets canned.  I think he his stubborn to a fault.

.... we don't throw the ball on a regular basis.

possibly because they don't get open on a regular basis......

Listen I've been critical of Taggart lately because of his conservative style. I'm not a huge fan of his play calling. It seems as though he wants to win every game 17-10 and he never seems to want to attack the edges with our speed. I don't think it's realistic and I believe you need to have a different plan for each opponent. Attacking their weakness, even if it means going against your strength especially when they've proven they can stop it but there are so many people on here that just criticize everything he does.

I'm honestly surprised some of you haven't criticized him for putting his pants on one leg at a time. That's how far some of these reaches have been.

Trust me it is quite clear you're not a fan of his. I know you were a big Holtz guy and a Bench fan and it shows when you constantly criticize Taggart.

Sometimes you guys point out the dumbest things to be critical of though. I'm sure he realizes receivers do get open at times. It's also possible they have trouble creating separation at times too.

It's just a stupid quote in an article and people love to jump on him for this nonsense.

The guy is learning on the job. He is 39. The same age Holtz was when his dad fired him as OC at south carolina. the same age Nick Saban was when he was a DB coach for houston oilers.

he has a lot to learn. I think he is doing a fine job recruiting. his game day coaching leaves a little to be desired and I wish he would give up play calling to someone a little less conservative but anyone who thinks the next Urban Meyer is going to walk through the door needs to have their head examined.we are not high up on the totem pole so we will never get the cream of the crop for a coach and if we do it's quite possible they are gone with any success.

In this article he blames the receivers for not getting open.  I've seen open receivers that don't get the ball thrown to them.  Also saw a wide open receiver drop a TD pass. Don't tell me the receivers can't get open.

If the article you're referring to is the one in the original post of this thread, here's what he said:

'Some of (the receivers), the execution is not there, and we're not this team that just drops back and throws it to our receivers 80 times a game. That's not what we do,' Taggart said.

That's not just getting open ...... if that's not the article you're talking about ..... never mind.

And if that were ever to happen ... I would have ABSOLUTELY no problem with that.  At all.

That would be a novelty we'd all enjoy!

Our best wide receiver has 45 receiving yards after four games.  You have to shake your head at people that find this acceptable.

I mean it's quite possible. Anything is possible, but we don't throw the ball enough for anyone to really know if they're getting open or not on a regular basis. There have been plenty of missed throws on wide open receivers on the few times we have thrown. On top of that, when we do throw the football we're down late in the 4th quarter when the defense knows we are throwing and playing 6+ defensive backs on the field so you're probably not going to see wide open receivers.

He's like the energizer bunny of silly quotes-

Taggart reiterated how important it will be for QB Quinton Flowers to utilize TEs Sean Price and Kano Dillon consistently against the Orange. "For a quarterback that can't necessarily see over the line all the time, it's great to have some big targets to throw the ball to," he said. ...
