Man skip was such a great coach, he really built a dynasty at ECU against some quality opponents.

3 CUSA East Division Champs, 2 CUSA championships ... 6 wins over BCS teams incuding WVU and Va Tech, a win over Boise State ... Seriously, slam him for what he didn't do here but trying to minimize what he did at ECU is just plain silly.

Man skip was such a great coach, he really built a dynasty at ECU against some quality opponents. Wonder why more people can't coach like him

So Skip's 38-27 at ECU is a joke, but Sonny Dykes's 22-15 with zero bowl wins is the real deal?

In fairness to Dykes his not even going to a bowl his last season was all on the AD.

So HR Bull and the LA Tech AD both think Dykes built a team worthy of the national championship game?

Why just one? He should have them pouring in. At least he understands that as a football coach golf is not on his to do list. Extracurriculars whatever, we all want to have fun but work should come first.

I still don't understand why people are/were so peepee wet over Skippy.

So is blindly worshipping a guy who didn't work out here.

Nobody's worshiping anybody ... just throwing out some facts. He didn't work out here but it doesn't diminish what he did before coming here.

The steadfast Holtz brigade tells otherwise, they never fail to attempt to absolve him of everything. What he did at ECU was fine, but constantly putting him on a pedestal gets old. It feel like some still think he's the coolest thing since sliced bread, and find comparing the Great Holtz to anyone else beneath his great statue. By the numbers his tenure at ECU was analogous to Dykes's time at La Tech. The mirror each other in the wins column. Nothing mind blowing or national everything about that. Just facts.

So when you said Dykes put LA Tech on the map, you mean Holtz put ECU on the map as well?

It's fair to say that he did, but I was referring to him crashing our program. They both helped to infuse life into floundering programs saying that shouldn't come at the cost of the others accomplishments.

I have yet to see a single person on this board argue Holtz shouldn't have been fired from USF. But like Trip said, that doesn't mean he didn't do a **** good job before coming here and he's doing just fine since leaving.

Good for him, some people just can't hack it outside of their comfort zone. Edited by HR Bull
