Anybody stepping up at WR and Oline? If we can get a few guys to really improve there it will make whoever plays QB's job a hell of a lot easier since those positions look pretty weak now.

I've heard positive things about Clerveaux and Legree at WR; I haven't heard too much regarding the O-line. Thor has been banged up.

Reading back, looks like Evan Wilson has been making some big plays at WR.

Thor and Bryjnar both, apparently. From the comments above, it looks like our O-line is pretty green, which to me means we don't have much depth there. Hope these guys learn fast & stay healthy.

Bullock doesn't look small. But the D setup so far seems to be more about speed than size for our LBs.

Auggie has pretty good instincts for the ball, but he plays from behind too often. Hopefully with the time on the field, he'll get better there.

I hope Sanchez has improved his speed from last season.

Is it his speed that's the issue? Or his reaction time?

He moved to ILB from Fullback, so I think his speed should be fine. I would hope his reaction time improves every year as he gets more comfortable in the new position?

Flowers to Wilson on a 40 yard touchdown, apparently the quick pace caused a hole in the defense. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Is it just me or do our linebackers...Sanchez and Harris look small? I think back to when we had barrington, Moffit, lattimore, other guys they were all big guys

Sanchez is 10 pounds heavier than DD was his senior year.  He played last season at 240.  He's literally one of the bigger inside LBs we've had at USF 6'3 245... Moffitt played is senior season at 6'2 245.  I think Auggie will be better this season than last.  He was a redshirt freshman starting in the middle, and play decent.  Harris at 6' 220 isn't much different than a lot of OLB we've had at USF.  Sam was starting at 225, though he did get up to 230 as a senior.  Our LBS actually look pretty similar to those we had under CJL... which makes me happy.

I've had a chance to see a few practices now and the biggest thing I'm coming away with is we are going to have a great defense.  From what I see, Flowers is improving a lot.  He seems to be getting comfortable and seeing his ability to break contain and move... he should make some plays with his legs and I'm actually coming around on his passing.  He can run this offense.  To be honest, this looks like an old USF team.  Guys are flying around on the defense and we run a spread offense based around a running QB.  Because make no mistake, the QB who runs this system needs to be able to run.

Mack and Tice have been doing about what I expected.  I haven't seen a lot out of the WRs.  I mean there have been some flashes but to be honest, they are going against a nickel every down and the defense us ahead of the offense.

The offensive line... well... the number 1's do OK sometimes.  I think we should be able to muster up a pretty decent OLine this year once everyone is here and healthy.  Bethel coming in, Brynar, Thor, Djbulkavic (I have no clue as to how to spell his name), Ruff, Hall, Thor, Knox, Galati, Smith... we will be decent.  I predict we will look a lot like USF did when Leavitt first left... likely win 7 or 8 games and make a bowl.  The difference between now and then I think will be this team will embrace the read option.  Leavitt never actually based his system on that.  The offense seemed to be winging it a lot back then, IMHO.

If we can have a season like that it would be huge. We NEED a bowl game this year to help with recruiting, Taggart's job stability, and give the fans a reason to come to the games.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
