An executive should give his mid-levels room to shine... guide and be appropriately hands-off. Surround yourself with highly competent assistants and let them loose, give them a chance to do well and it's a win-win situation.

Hires are usually known by the hiring coach or by their mentor. Until this year they came from Harbaugh. Either he no longer trusts him or Harbough has no time for Willie. So now he's turned to his high school coach for recommendations. In the meantime, coaches that are competent don't get serious consideration because they weren't know or recommended. Actually this is how most big business works. Nepotism makes the word go round Coupled with greed is a big chunk of what's wrong with Amercia today. It CLEARLY has not been an effective approach. It was effective enough to go 7-5 each of his last two years at WKU ... Bottom line is the execution of the plays called. While there were definitely some head scratcher calls this year, which I assume most play callers have across the sport, there was enough adequate play calling spoiled by poor execution to not make this as big of a mountain out of a mole hill as some are.

Hope coached under Joe Tiller who is considered one of the fathers of the spread. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Tiller I looked at Hopes record at Purdue and they were getting better every year under him. Since Danny left Purdue has gone 1-11 and 3-9. Karma! I think we have a good coach who is probably being severely under used and under paid.
