You might be right with Holgerson, but Magee, and Smith are OC's with Rich Rod and Petrino has the old UAB coach. They may have OC's but Petrino and Rod have final say and call the plays. Petrino has always called his own plays, in CFB and in the NFL: '...At Illinois, Paul Petrino would step in for Mike Schultz, one of four assistants fired last week. The Illinois job would also be a chance for Paul Petrino to call plays, whereas Bobby Petrino calls his own plays at Arkansas.' "...A similar offense in Atlanta should fit Vick's skills well, considering his success throwing the deep ball as well as passes to tight end Alge Crumpler in the seams. Petrino's ability to develop quarterbacks was among Blank's criteria for the coaching hire. The new coach, who will call his own plays, pledged to make his scheme fit Vick's skills." Rich Rod: "There are basically two camps: coaches who prefer the role as CEO and those Bellotti calls "the actively involved coordinator-head coach."...Coaches such as Kiffin, Washington State's Mike Leach, Arizona's Rich Rodriguez and Washington's Sarkisian — all from the Pac-12 Conference — fall into the "actively involved" category. Leach said he might stop if he ever got tired of it, but added, "There is no end in sight."" Coaches who call plays can reach the highest levels. Spurrier won a national title at Florida in 1996 and Kelly almost won at Oregon in 2010. When Rodriguez was coach at West Virginia in 2007, he needed only to beat a lousy Pittsburgh team to advance to the BCS title game — but didn't. That's true, but that's very common throughout CFB and the NFL... But, that's not the point. It's unorthodox to not have an OC in place, which looks like that might be what CWT is doing. Unless he slaps a couple of Co-OC tags on some of the current position coaches.

Hm, I'll be honest Idk of any. At least no good ones. Paul Johnson, GT Jimbo Fisher, FSU Gus Malzahn Steve Spurrier And please, no knuckleheads misinterpret this as comparing CWT to those guys ... Dude, where do you get off comparing those guys to CWT? Yeah. How dare you. It's like when I said Kentucky has young great BB players and we have young players. I was accused of comparing USF to Kentucky. The horror.

True. However, it's not unorthodox to go to Joe Kinnan for advice when molding a spread offense. That is something both Gus Malzahn and Tom Osborne did. And you know what, Harlan comes off as a pretty bright guy and knows what he's doing. If he's ok with this, I think that's enough for us to get behind it. I wonder how much of that was asking advice vs trying to build a relationship with one of the best recruiting sources in Florida.
