Steven Bench has only ever led 1 touchdown drive that was not in garbage time (week 2 against Maryland). Mike white has not been statistically impressive for the most part. But it's hard to say he's not the answer. I felt like he had a decent game against a fantastic Memphis defense today. If we dump Taggart and get someone like Magee, can White be the guy? He is not the most mobile guy, though he can certainly extend the play. I feel like he can. If Taggart stays, White needs to be the QB for at least another year (unless at midseason 2015 he's shown he cannot win football games). If Taggart goes, then you open up the competition. But I still think he would win it.

If he could run like the Memphis QB, we probably would be on top of the conference now. Go Bulls!

However, it's pretty obvious Taggart is trying to push Flowers as a QB despite on the field results, so who knows.

I think next season he can be average. He will be our starter until he graduates. We need to have a very good qb in waiting for when White is gone. With an average qb, the bigger issue is going to be play calling. Our redzone play calling is awful. We drive to within 10 yards, and you would think with a power run it wouldn't be so hard to find a way into the end zone from 1st and goal, but our coaches lack of creativity leaves us kicking 5 yard feild goals. This is a question I posed in another thread. This offense is meant to chew up time. As strange as it sounds, I am not sure it is meant to point points on the board. The offensive coaches seem confused when we get inside the 20 and up to about the 5. If we can get the ball at 1st and goal from the 5 we stand a chance because most of the time we can move it 2 yards at a time. It would be interesting to look at how our offensive TDs were scored this year: From how far out and which plays we're called.

He has picked up one or two first downs scrambling, but those are very much exceptions and not the rule. However, he has increasingly showed some elusiveness that is promising. Last night he avoided a few sacks, including one clutch pump that perfectly juked a corner blitzer. If Mack and Johnston keep running well, we don't really need White to be able to scramble....just be able to avoid sacks. And then our receivers need to be coached to run back when the play breaks down so he has options to pass to...

Kid shows a lot of promise. That said, if we were able to get another BJ-type player, Mike would need to sit IMO. I don't think he has much to worry about, though. They improved this season, but they need to keep getting better next season. Watched Cincy play and their QB had all kinds of time to sit in the pocket. Wish USF had something like that.
