Why would being an assistant here be better for his HC aspirations than being an assistant at UK?

Why would being an assistant here be better for his HC aspirations than being an assistant at UK? I think that he was just the director of bball operations (not positive) at UK so moving to USF as an assistant would be a step in the right direction. Rod Strickland was demoted from assistant coach at UK, to special assistant to UK coach Calipari after 2010 DUI. Strickland is starting fresh at USF...I will be pulling for him and wish him much success at USF.
