Difficult to go on the road and recruit without one. 7 hours ago via 247Sports Mobile Strickland was an assistant before his DUI. He worked with the guards and was a good recruiter. After the arrest, he wasn't allowed to travel for recruiting so he was demoted to an administrative role and then they brought in Kenny Payne. http://kentucky.247sports.com/Board/296/Rod-Strickland-leaving-Kentucky-join-Antiguas-staff-at-USF-26993745/1 Russ Wood â€@RussHoops Per a reliable source Rod Strickland will leave Kentucky to join Orlando Antigua's staff at USF Rodney "Rod" Strickland (born July 11, 1966) is a retired American NBA player. Strickland played college basketball at DePaul University, where he was awarded All-American honors. He then enjoyed a long career in the NBA, playing from 1988 to 2005. He currently serves in an administrative role for the University of Kentucky basketball team under head coach John Calipari. Strickland was formerly the director of basketball operations at the University of Memphis under Calipari. A native of the Bronx, Strickland played for the New York Gauchos. While a junior he led Truman High School in Co-Op City to the state championship and was ranked as one of the top 10 high school recruits in the nation. As a senior he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. Looks like Strickland will be moving up in his coaching role and will get to go on the road and recruit. Don't see why he would keep the same role and leave UK.
