We should be able to recruit a great PG in the short term

Also Rod Strickland wants to be a HC someday so the move to USF is a smart one for those that can't believe he would leave UK for USF.

Why would being an assistant here be better for his HC aspirations than being an assistant at UK?

I think that he was just the director of bball operations (not positive) at UK so moving to USF as an assistant would be a step in the right direction.

This from Olsmobull, "Doug Woolard's son, Chris Woolard, is director of basketball operations at UK...a pretty big job.  Rod Strickland was demoted from assistant coach at UK, to special assistant to UK coach Calipari after 2010 DUI.  Strickland is starting fresh at USF...I will be pulling for him and wish him much success at USF."

 

 

Bottomline is Strickland can't advance his coaching career being in an administrative role at UK, so he's coming to USF as a true asst coach which is a smart move on his part.

Rod Strickland will join Orlando Antigua’s staff at South Florida as an assistant coach, multiple sources told CBSSports.com.

An official announcement is expected before the weekend.

One thing I've noticed so far from reading Kentucky fans' reaction to Antigua and now (possibly) Strickland leaving has been nothing but class.

Most wishing him well, saying he deserves his chance and thanking for his time and services.

Met Coach Strick at the father/son camp last year. Awesome dude and his two sons are going to be ballers! Best of luck to him and Coach O!
