@RussHoops: Per a good source, Steve Masiello to USF

Sounds like today is the day we find out

Who is RussHoops?

Russell Hoops

@RussellHoops

Providers of Basketball Coaching in East Hertfordshire from Grass Root to Elite Level. In partnership with BCW sports services and Ware Rebels Basketball Club.

UK  Â·  russellhoops.com

For what it is worth. Russ Hoops seems to have brought some good info in the past. He has tweeting breaking news about some USF recruits that were correct, so hopefully his source is correct on this too. I am pretty hyped right now.

RussHoops writes for Rival and he does a good job.

Come on down Steve

I like him for any number of reasons, but this one stands out: "Masiello served on Pitino's staff for six years." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Masiello

When you go to school for that long, you will have learned something!

Just read Masiello on the radar (second tier) for Boston College.

Personally you should need more then that.

I like the guy's attitude, but my only concern is his ability to recruit to USF and we shall find out shortly as recruiting is about to really start up. Get himself some asst coaches that have connections in our area and we are a go.

Sources I have spoken to at #USF say there is not a deal in place with Steve Masiello to become the next head coach.

If he's second tier for BC, that basically means "probably not". BC will get someone before Masiello unless their academic standards get in the way.

What is Masiello's salary at Manhattan?  I thought I heard something unbelievably low, but I can't confirm it anywhere.

I bet he gets offered at CSH's salary or slightly below.  If BC wants him they will pay more than that to get him.

If he gets offered Heath money, there is no way he can say "no".  We would be overpaying.

I agree. I would be suprised if it was well over CSH's salary which was not a bad salary at all to be honest. Masiello is 36 years old so he will have plenty of time to win more and get a bigger contract years down the road.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
