I've never been totally clear on what the division of labor was or is between CWT and the offensive coordinator position (formerly occupied by Walt Wells), but apparently whatever Wells was doing wasn't working.  The offensive line was also a disappointment. As for QBs/passing game, it was obviously horrific.  So these decisions make sense on that level.

Isn't Nick Sheridan the Bucs' defensive coordinator's son?  Interesting that they're both getting canned.  They will not have fond memories of Tampa.

IIRC CWT was interviewed in December and noted that he didn't expect any changes to staff in the off-season.  He must have changed his mind, or had his mind changed for him.  Excited at the possibilities...

One would hope that his budget increased for both positions so he can hire upgrades...

Anyone really think budgets are increasing after this past football season?

To be competitive it must.

Hopefully they get a currency printer then ... or grow a money tree.

Blackwell would make the most sense for QB coach.

From what I understood, Coach Taggart was basically the OC during the games.

So he fired the OC over his own ****** results?
Wells was the OCINO ... also the OL coach. Did a great job getting results, right?
No worse than the head OC and he probably makes $1 million less.

I know what you're doing, and it's a foolish argument.

Do you by any chance work in the Cleveland Browns front office?

Just curious where CWT's influence on the offense ends and the "OC" begins. Obviously, the Houston game was all CWT. That's not even a question.

What I'm curious about is if the decision to let coaches go came down from above CWT, or if he took the initiative to do that.

Usually if the mandate comes down from admins to fire coaches, you have a HC that is on the hot seat.  I'd be hard pressed to believe that's the case here.

Best case scenario is that CWT was not pleased with the performance of either of these guys and gave them their walking papers without prompting from his superiors.

What if Judy called him and told him his offense sucked and to #dosomething?

Simplified the Coordinator job has 3 components: teaching players the schemes; game planning; and, play calling. The last gets most of the criticism although the first is probably the most important. Not sure where cwt has the division of responsibilities although he looks like he does most of the play calling. May just be that Sheridan and wells weren't teaching the schemes as effectively as he wanted. Or maybe they're not pulling heir weight in recruiting.

I hope Taggart wasn't forced into firing them.  I hope he came to the conclusion on his own and can target some better guys.  Need recruiters first and foremost.

Also, let's not forget the number of penalties that this offense committed!
