Shaw might be a player if the defense allows us to stick with the run.

Cliett and Lattimore are good NFL caliber LBs.

We will get a chance to see a lot of younger kids play and get experience.

I won't be disappointed when we lose to MSU or UCF or Miami.

Skip Holtz lost at La Tech to a very beatable NC State team.  Validating that he's the problem.

It can't get any worse

For what it's worth, I don't believe we had many motion penalties or false starts.

Man I'm reaching

The pragmatist in me sees nothing to like about this team. Based on getting demolished by an FCS, I'd be shocked if we win this year.

Bobby Petrino beat UK with Taggart's players. But a three year plan does us no good. It's just not acceptable.

It may not be acceptable to you, but it may be the reality.

Yes, I think three year plan is reality. When you are left with a bare cupboard, it takes some time to restock

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that this loss could very well turn out to be the best thing that could have happened to this team this year.

We went into this season with optimism buoyed by having a new coach.  I, personally, still believe that Taggart will turn this team around.  However, we have gone many seasons where we blow out some 1AA team in our first game and become far too confident for our good.  It's usually after our blowout victory that we hear prognostications of undefeated seasons and BCS bowl games from our fans.  They were always unrealistic expectations, but we were always misled by our victory over some cupcake team.

This year can be different.  We have been served a big dose of humble pie.  We know what we are, but it's not too late in the season to fix things.  Our fans can have a realistic perception of where this team stands.  Our players will now understand that merely having a new coach and a new scheme is not enough to win games, but they also have to go out there and play with a different attitude.  Losing to a 1AA team will help our players understand that nothing can be taken for granted.

It's not too late to have a decent season.  When Michigan was shocked by Appalachian State in 2007, they still went on to beat Florida in a bowl game.  We have been humbled and humiliated, but at least it happened in the first game of the season and not our first conference game as it usually happens.  Maybe we needed this loss to inspire our team.  That is the silver lining from this.

It was the perfect storm for USF.  Turnover at the 5, pick six, high snap before you know it the game was out of hand in the second quarter.

I look forward to the Michigan State game.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
