I wouldn't mind a baseball and football stadium that's connected like our baseball and softball stadiums on campus. There could be 2 separate fields opposite of each other, but the entrance, walkways, bathrooms, concessions, etc... would be connected. I hate multi-purpose stadiums, they look bushleague.

Not in favor of moving USF to a different off campus stadium but Aloha Stadium shows that multi- purpose stadiums do not have to be bush league.

Go to http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/AlohaStadium.html#place to see the baseball and football configurations. Seats 50,000 too so its about the right size. A duplicate of that stadium makes some sense.

Cuz that's what the Rays need when they have the worst attendance in football....a 50k seat stadium. It's a horrible idea either way and will never happen.

Interesting way of doing it. (your referenced pics are attached below)

I went to Cincinnati's old Riverfront Stadium (maybe same as ATL and 3 Rivers?) and IMO it was fine for Reds, Bengals, and the Rolling Stones. Instead of "clam-shelling" like Aloha, they only moved the 3rd base bleachers around until they paralleled the 1st base bleachers.

A multi use stadium is a compromise that would not satisfy either tenant.  The pro teams want palaces designed for them including the best of everything taylored specifically for their use.  They really don't even want to share it with anybody else.   College football stadiums should offer close to the field seating, a complete bowl, and they should focus more on the game and less on other entertainment/mingling activities.

Was at Great American Ballpark this last memorial day weekend, to watch my Reds beat the cubbies. Not a single problem with bugs, just a great view of the Ohio river and Covington, Ky.

Which would be great, if the proposed stadium were in Cincinnati...

Do they have different water there? A river, is a river, bugs and all.

I can't speak for the chemistry of the water but the climates and insect populations are certainly different.  I'm sure you have been around the Hillsborough River -- bug free it is not.
