Horrible area, horrible idea. Nothing but the worst of many angles. Lose Ray Jay amenities, not on campus, and horrible area, night games would be downright scary. I live within a couple of miles.

A USF spokeswoman said the Bulls, who play at Raymond James, aren't in the market for a new home.

"We don't have any current plans to build a stadium," said USF spokeswoman Lara Wade. "We're definitely not looking at any specific locations."

Huge fail. Leadership isn't even planning for it? 100% leadership failure, pure and simple.

Excellent strategy to generate donations. If I'm a donor, and I see this, what's the point. Good lord I love this program but I hate the way they do things sometimes.

Quotes like that don't look so good for potentially interested conferences like say the Big 12.  Just play the game and say, "we'd like to have a nice on campus facility someday, and we'll continue to work toward that goal."

That can mean several things.  I'm sure this has been discussed with the bigger donors.  Not having current plans, could just mean that there's no set plan.  I think the, "specific location" thing is disingenuous.  They have to have ideas of where one might go.

Again, if they are in discussions with the Big12, what they say publicly doesn't matter.

On campus stadium or not at all.  Crazy to build it off site there.

Is it possible that if USF donates the land, the taxpayers will fund the construction of an on-campus, state-of-the-art, dual purpose stadium for the Rays and the Bulls?

Before people argue that football and baseball don't work together in a stadium, I would remind all that a dual purpose stadium hasn't been tried in around 25 years.  Personally, these last few years, I thought it was dishonest that municipalities (and pro teams) fleeced taxpayers to build two stadiums where there once was one.  It was sold to tax payers that constructing a functional, aesthetically pleasing dual purpose was akin to manned space flight to mars.

Hopefully, architects and engineers could solution the things people hated and create something more inspiring than the Vet in Philly.

Seems like a solid way for USF to get a top-notch facility, get people on campus and even create a few jobs in suitcase city.

I wouldn't mind a baseball and football stadium that's connected like our baseball and softball stadiums on campus. There could be 2 separate fields opposite of each other, but the entrance, walkways, bathrooms, concessions, etc... would be connected. I hate multi-purpose stadiums, they look bushleague.

I noticed this article from the front page this morning and stopped and read it before going to work. Totally ridiculous to even consider. I hate it when crap likes this even gets printed, as it gives others more opportunities to knock and make fun of USF...............

Yea seems far fetched but can't blame Crist for trying.  I'm sure the goal is to improve his district, which is a pretty tough one.

Of course you have to blame Christ for trying. He brought it up.

Or is the name of the game "say anything".

If that's the case, take a lesson from the TV Series "Boss". Bulldoze what needs to be cleared and put up a casino.

Rays spokesman Rick Vaughn said in an email the team would not comment on Crist's proposal. A USF spokeswoman said the Bulls, who play at Raymond James, aren't in the market for a new home.

And that, seems to be that!

If thats the end of the discussion, it means we've only got 3 more pages on this thread and 15 more separate threads about an OCS to go before the season starts.

Now, when you say "OCS" do you mean "ON Campus Stadium" or "OFF Campus Stadium" which is what Crist Memorial Stadium would be.  :FIREdevil:
