Giving our current state, conference affiliation, Horrible TV deal and being locked out of the Playoff system do we need an OCS for survival?

OCS would allow us to build something suitable to accommodate the amount of fans( not a half empty Ray Jay, which could be expanded at later date if needed)  we could make money off Naming rights, concessions, parking, advertising, ticket sales ect... Instead of paying rent and giving money to the Glazers.

Could be used for other events like Graduations, Rent it out for concerts, ect....

It cant hurt the future potential of landing in a power 5 either.

Didn't start this thread to beat a dead horse, but only to see if a Feasibility study is needed for survival?

If it was feasible, we'd be doing it.

Pretty sure there was a thread recently where DW addressed this, although no new info was given.  Building off of what JTrue said above - if it was also NECESSARY for survival, they would be in the middle of construction right now, or they would be nailing boards over the locker room doors.

I'm fairly certain that the fact that neither option is taking place is a clear indicator that it's not necessary for survival.

As has been mentioned sooooo many times before, the OCS would be nice to have when we can afford to do it in a topnotch way.  There was even a thread on this not too long ago with comments from Doug Woolard.

What do you mean by "needing an OCS for survival"?

Raymond James is still a top notch facility to play in.  Our practice facilities, which is just as important, if not more so, to the recruits and players because they spend all 5 to 6 days a year at the stadium are top notch and continuing to improve with added facilities.

What is needed to survive is to get near or on top of this conference and make some big news on the national front.  An OCS is a nice addition when the time is right to do it the right way.  Honestly, I really don't see what it does for the perception of the program after the novelty of the first game is gone.

Win in an exciting manner.  Develop a couple of marquee players that are true household names and make a reason for football fans outside of the hardcore USF fans to tune in and we will thrive.  The OCS doesn't make a the average football fan tune in to watch an average football team playing in a 14-10 game that does not have a player that anyone that doesn't follow football very closely has heard of.

Survival?

Survival ??

I was unaware that we were drowning/starving/cancerous/hemorrhaging/knock-knock-knocking on heaven's door. Surely you don't suggest that changing conferences is akin to drawing the curtain to join the choir invisible, do you?

Enough with the OCS. We need to get it through our collective noodle that the comments made - and thoroughly parsed on this board - by the athletic director have put this subject into its proper context. I also agree that if those wiser than us - who get paid to make command decisions - believed that an OCS was an integral part of making the program better, the project would be well under way. I think a team that has a 39% Big East in-conference winning percentage has sufficient issues to address - with an OCS being eligible for back-burner status.

Uh no. The ACC has two schools playing in NFL stadiums since its recent acquisition of Pitt. Spend money on quality coaching, not a stadium or stadium study.  Note that both schools moved out of the Big East.
