I'd be happy with that hire. Even though the DBs were horrible this year, I wouldn't place the blame soley on Cooper.

Yeah, but he's got a lot more recent college coaching experience than Bresnahan.  Coached some great secondaries at LSU.  Even if he's not a noted recruiter.

Is it good to be able to tell recruits that they are playing under an NFL-caliber defensive coordinator? (or at least one who knows the NFL and what it takes to win there)

I like this if true. I guess he's above the coordinators??? really thought he would be good as DC.

HM, he's been picking up NFL coaches. I mean, they could always pitch that they "know what kids need to prepare for the NFL."

It would be assumed that he'd take a role helping with our DBs. He could point to the fantastic LSU secondaries of the past few seasons, as well as his experience in the NFL.

This is a great get, USF is known for generating defensive talent (without the coaches and staff).  And to assemble a staff with NFL experience will help a lot in establishing credibility and marketing our program.  These coaches will maintain some of the relationships with scouts in the NFL and I'm sure scouts will come to coahes that they are familiar with when asking about potential NFL talent.  So this could be a great opportunity for us to get out of this hole we are in
