Rumor here in Bama land is Saban has 5 years left in him and smart would be his heir apparent. If Saban does what he has over the next 5 years, he'll be loved as much as the Bear and that's all he needs to feel he's done everything he can do there.

I could be wrong but I think Saban is the only coach from the Belichick tree that is really successful. Funny if you compare their careers. Belichick dominates the NFL while Saban dominates college. Two of the best coaches in the history of the game if they keep it up.

I find sabans career more impressive because belichick doesn't have to replace tom Brady every 4 years

but belichick has to fill his roster with draft picks and free agents. he has a salary cap to contend with. he doesn't get his pick of players. saban loads his team with just about anyone he wants. not to mention he turns his roster over like an nfl team. alabama has a huge advantage over most of it's competitors compared to the patriots.

This is true - Nick is looking at 2 jobs within the next 5 years - AD of Bama or WVU, but with Huggins new contract he is also setting himself up for AD job.

This is probably the biggest advantage for Saban over Bellichik ... he has no salary cap to contend with.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
