Bad News Fellas: Texas Tech to the Gator Bowl

Who would have though a month ago that we'd be wishing to be in the Car Care Bowl.  Man, sometimes I think back to the impact we could have made on the College Football Community and the Nation and I almost want to Cry.

Hopefully, our day will come soon.

Whatever you do, do not use the words "disappointed" or "disappointing" or your love for USF athletics will be called into question.

BTW, our run to #2 wasn't in vain.  I heard a Kansas City journalist answering the "Is KU for real?" question by citing that, "while KU has had a soft schedule this year, they beat USF last year."  That never would have happened in the past.

This goes back to my original posts on the Gator Bowl, and any bowl for that matter, the cities want out of town teams to be selected.  If TT is selected the fans have to stay in town, $$$$ spent.  We on the other hand can drive in that morning with a trunk full of food, buy a t-shirt, and head home that night.

If you are a selection committee made up of business owners what would you do?

I've been saying it all week as others have..........the Gator wouldn't make that bad financial move by taking us or another Big East team this year.  It just doesn't make sense.  Now all of their options are available for the next two years.  They weren't going to back themselves in a corner just to take us.  You guys that were thinking Gator..........c'mon, it wasn't going to happen.   

Prior to TT's unlikely win over OU (who would have thought their QB would go down in the 1st Half), the Gator Bowl was in a bit of a pickle. Do they take a 9-3 team from the BE or settle for a 7-5 team from the Big 12? The option was eliminated with TT's win, but we did have a chance prior to that.

I don't understand... they are going to take an unranked team over a ranked team simply because they might (MIGHT) get Notre Dame of West Virginia next year?

In college football Notre Dame= fans in seats (those that love them and hate them) and TV viewers (those that love them and hate them).  ND would be picked over all but a handful of teams. 

On the other end of the spectrum, USF is an unknown quantity on traveling and the last couple years have not been impressive on bowl travel.  Hell we have fans now that are unwilling to travel for "lower" bowls.
