So we would have to rent a stadium for one game just to accommodate Notre Dame? How much would that even cost? I think our new OCS should hold around 40,000- 45,000, so still plenty  of room for their fans. Either way for the future we should no longer make such arrangements and I don't care who the team is. If they want to play us they should play us at our OCS, unless they fork up the payment for the stadium rental.

USF has said 35,000 - things can change, but that is the number until it isn't the number.

And I don't know. But if our choices are play a game at Ray Jay or lose a home game against Notre Dame, then I am delighted to be back in Ray Jay..... all hypothetical now, as this is just speculation.

I’m thinking either 2026 or 2027

I am ok with a slight delay as long as its built right.  I can't wait to see renderings.

Thanks, I had never seen the number 35,000. Seems low considering we almost averaged 30,000 last year and averaged  almost 35,000 over the last 5 years in the AAC even with our record over the last 3 years. Hope its the type a stadium where its easy to add capacity with new construction.

Think it was going to be 35k, maybe 40.

I wanted 45k but would rather have it now at 35k than sometime in the future at 45k. Would assume there is standing room only and/or grass berm seating that can fill additional. Give me the renderings, John!

I trust that the design will have future expansion in mind, probably tied to conference realignment.

Let's just do schedule SEU fire and hope we can find our most consistent receiver again like Bryce miller.

Poking about on the interwebs, the average FBS stadium capacity is 51K, and in the AAC it is 43,827 (if we omit RayJ, Lincoln Field & Alamodome) it is 40,890. Probably less if we drop the Liberty Bowl as well (down around 35K).

AAC College Stadium Conference Capacity Opened
East Carolina Dowdy Ficklen Stadium AAC 50,000 1963
Florida Atlantic FAU Stadium AAC 30,000 2011

North Texas Apogee Stadium AAC 30,850 2011
Rice Rice Stadium AAC 47,000 1950
SMU Gerald Ford Stadium AAC 32,000 2000
South Florida Raymond James Stadium AAC 65,857 1998

UAB Protective Stadium AAC 47,100 2021
UNC Charlotte Jerry Richardson Stadium AAC 15,314 2013

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
